China Books on Show in Global Airports and Train Stations for Chinese New Year

Travelers can conveniently pick up books on China at the world's busiest airports and railway stations in 16 countries and regions, under an initiative celebrating Chinese New Year.

The books' availability has been made possible by a deal between Shanghai Press and Publishing Development Company and the French Lagardere Group to distribute China-related books through the latter's global network starting from Jan. 11, company officials said Tuesday.

The selection includes books on Chinese history, literature, interior design, language studies. Along with China-related books for children, they are available in multiple languages and will be put on shelves in 204 bookstores in 38 airports and 27 railway stations including the J.F. Kennedy Airport in New York, Aeroport International Charles de Gaulle in Paris, and Frankfurt International Airport in Germany.

The Chinese New Year book show, held annually since last year, is part of the State Administration of Press and Publication's efforts to promote Chinese culture through partnerships with global distributors as the country moves to strengthen the influence of its "soft power" after three decades of eye-catching economic success.
