Teacher and students are plunging themselves into paper-cutting

Jan.3, 2012, was the school day after Christmas Day and New Year’s Day in Poland, when the Art School in Poznan had the special guests from Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University for the first Chinese cultural event in the history of the school. And this was the first Chinese cultural event by Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University in the year 2012, to start the various cultural events in the new year in order to make Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University more renown and influential

Write the Chinese “Tian An Men” for the first time

The students were divided into classes by ages, taught respectively by Miss Joanna Hiler and Miss Kamila Wiatr.

At the class of lower grades for Chinese paper-cutting, Miss Joanna Hiler first introduced the features and skills about Chinese paper-cutting, and then the students began cut Chinese character “happiness” following the examples by the teacher. This is the first time for the students know Chinese characters and cut Chinese characters with their own hands, so they got very excited especially at the special fortunate time of the year. They kept carefully their works for memory.

At the class of higher grades for Chinese characters and calligraphy, Miss Kamila Wiatr illustrated the structures of Chinese characters patiently and the features of skills of Chinese character writing, and then students began to write Chinese characters with Chinese brushes. Finally they learned to write Chinese characters for “big”, “small” and “Tian An Men”, etc. With their hands dirtied by Chinese ink, they knew Chinese calligraphy was really an art and it was not easy to learn it well.

Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University will continue its programs about Chinese culture at the primary schools, high schools and other schools, to well meet the increasingly and rapidly increasing needs for Chinese language and culture in Poland.
