Scholarship Selection Method for Outstanding Foreign Student in Southwest University

In order to attract foreign students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan comes to study and do scientific research in Southwest University, encourage students to study hard and positive and establish good study atmosphere, Southwest University set up scholarship application system.

First: Objects

Foreign students or students who come from Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan study over one year at Southwest University or full-time study undergraduates, masters or doctors.

Second: requirements

1. abide by Chinese laws and regulations and school rules

2. be friendly to people and respect Chinese social morality and customs

3. respect teachers and work in unity and help one another

4. study hard and get excellent academic results without make-up examination

5. take an active part in activities organized by international student office

6. the average score of full-time students and foreign students equals or over eighty-five, and ranks top ten percent could apply for the first prize; average score is eighty to eighty-five and ranks top twenty percent could apply for the second prize.

7. undergraduates, masters and doctors take part in selection as general scholar in their first Chinese studying year

Third: scholarship category

1. undergraduate and general scholar

2. master, doctor and senior scholar

Fourth: scholarship amount

1. undergraduate and general scholar:

a. the first prize: 3000 yuan

b. the second prize: 2000 yuan

2. master, doctor and senior scholar:

a. the first prize: 5000 yuan

b. the second prize: 3000 yuan

Fifth: selection standard

Winner is recommended in college, elected by international education and exchange center, graduate school, dean’s office, academy and teachers after comprehensive selection and then examined and approved by school foreign affairs work leading group.

Sixth: selection time: apply for in the late September of every semester by oneself, recommended by college, selected in the mid of October, and awarded in November.

Seventh: if the winner violates Chinese laws or school regulations and rules, the selection qualification for next year will be cancelled.

Eighth: this selection standard was executed from September in 2004, in the charge of international education and exchange center of Southwest University.(author:suri)
