Chinese Culture Presented at Spartanburg International Festival
On October 5th, the Confucius Institute at Presbyterian College joined the Spartanburg International Festival. The festival is held once a year and is the biggest local event.

We had a good preparation for the event. We brought the Presbyterian College tent and decorated the booth with a Chinese national flag, kungfu fan, Peking opera mask, Chinese knob and some Chinese little lucky pendants. We designed Chinese zodiac bookmarks with the logo of “Hanban” and Presbyterian College Confucius Institute website on the front of them. We helped the Americans find their own zodiac animal bookmarks based on their birth year, and we wrote their Chinese names with brush on the back of the bookmarks. The Chinese booth was the busiest and most crowded booth for the whole day. Around 2000 participants got their Chinese names and learned something about the Confucius Institute.

The Confucius Institute had successfully presented Chinese culture at the Spartanburg International Festival. We felt exhausted after a whole day’s working, but we were so happy to be able to promote the Confucius Institute and some Chinese culture. The Confucius Institute at Presbyterian college always takes the opportunity to endorse Chinese language and culture, and we are also expected to take part in local events in the future!
