SHNU President Give Lectures Successful Experience of Elementary Education in Shanghai
President Zhang Minxuan received members of Teach for All Alliance on Xuhui Campus on October 20. Invited by Wendy Koop (CEO of Teach for All), President Zhang delivered a lecture entitled “Successful Experience of Elementary Education in Shanghai”.
The lecture was held by means of “Q&A”, lasting an hour and a half. Zhang explained the success of elementary education in Shanghai in three aspects: students’ excellent performance in PISA Test, teachers’ professional development features and balanced development of education in Shanghai. His lecture aroused strong responses.
Teach For All is a global network of independent social enterprises working to expand educational opportunity in countries by enlisting talented future leaders to the effort. These organizations recruit leaders of all academic disciplines to commit to two years to teach in highly-needed areas and to work throughout their lives to address the root causes of educational need. The organization was founded in 2007 by Wendy Kopp (CEO of Teach For America). Teach For All’s mission is to expand educational opportunity internationally by increasing and accelerating the impact of these independent social enterprises. Teach For All currently has 28 partner organizations around the world. There have been inquiries about joining the Teach For All network from social entrepreneurs in 80 additional countries. The network expects to expand to more than 40 countries by 2015.
The visitors to SHNU this time involve all the CEOs and high-ranking members of its 28 member countries of the alliance.
