Participants in the opening ceremony Mr. Chen Jianping, Vice-CPC Secretary of GDUFS extended his warm congratulations to participants on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the program. In his remarks, Mr. Chen said that, as one of the few ratified Sino-foreign cooperative educational programs by the Ministry of Education in China, the MA English Language Education Program is of great significance to our objective of making GDUFS a truly international school. Mr. Chen also expressed his hope that every student should treasure this opportunity to improve the overall quality of their language skills and enrich themselves. Additionally, he gave his best wishes to all the students:"Enjoy your stay in Guangwai, enjoy the programme." Mr. Wen Binli, Dean of the Faculty of English Language and Culture cited differences between undergraduate and postgraduate education as well as Chinese and British education and encouraged all the students to adapt as quickly as possible to the British teaching model. He also expressed his expectation that students will seize every opportunity to improve themselves comprehensively, laying a solid foundation for their future job-search.
On the morning of October 24th, the opening ceremony of the first MA in English Language Education Program co-hosted by GDUFS and the University of Reading (UK) was officially held at the Huanghua Lecture Hall on the north campus of GDUFS.
Wu Zhonghui, the student representative shared her understanding of GDUFS:"It not only stands for Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, but also 'grateful, diligent, unique, fabulous, standard'."She hoped that all the students could help each other in the coming year and strive to "devote yourselves to the academic research required and follow the path of our successful predecessors in this domain."
