OSU Ag Econ Department Head Visited International College
Nov. 10 to 12, Dr. Damona Doye, Department Head of Agricultural Economics at OSU paid a visit to ICB. Dr. Glenn Brown, OSU Regents Professor, Dr. Vivian Wang, Manager of Chinese Development, International Students and Scholars Office at OSU accompanied Dr. Doye for the visit. On Nov. 11, Professor Huang Guanhua, Dean of ICB, Professor Xu Tingwu, Deputy Dean of ICB met with OSU visitors. Topics relating to the further development of the program, including the teaching quality assurance, faculty exchange, student exchange, internship opportunities were discussed. In the afternoon, Dr. Doye met with ICB faculty in OSU program. They were impressed with the qualification of our faculty. During the talks, Dr. Doye asked the support they can provide to our faculty. Dr. Doye also asked the faculty for their comments on program students and she was very pleased with the positive feedback she got from our faculty. Issues regarding the improvement of communication between faculty and students across two campuses were also discussed. After meeting with Faculty, Dr. Doye and Vivian went to meet the program students in the classroom. Dr. Doye introduced to the students OSU and Department of Agricultural Economics, its faculty, majors and options, alumni and the employment prospects. Then, Vivian introduced to program students the campus life by showing them videos on the different options in dormitory, various students unions, alumni activities and sports facilities. Vivian said, OSU is reputed as one of the safest campus in the U.S. and it is ranked as the happiest College in the U.S. in a recent survey among students from 2,000 colleges in the U.S. She believes the students will enjoy their experience on OSU campus. When the meeting finished, Dr. Doye gave every student a T-shirt she brought them from OSU and took a group photo with students wearing OSU T-shirt in “America’s brightest Orange” color.
