77 International Students Won UCD Scholarship
The Scholarship Award Ceremony was held on Oct. 24. Professor Regina Kilkenny, UCD Associate Vice Chancellor, Professor Laura Argys, Interim Dean of College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at UCD, Professor Huang Guanhua, Dean of ICB attended the ceremony and offered their congratulations to the prize winners. Dean Huang gave the opening speech in the ceremony. He said the program has turned out many excellent graduates in 19 years of collaboration between the two universities.The collaboration is gaining momentum. He expressed his hopes that the two universities would deepen their collaboration and contribute to the sustainable development of both parties. UCD scholarship was founded in 2011.It is awarded annually to the ICB students in the CAU-UCD program. The scholarship aims to deepen the collaboration between CAU and UCD, improve the competitiveness of the program as well as an encouragement for students’academic achievement. This year 77 ICB students in the CAU-UCD program received the scholarship.Among them, 33 are awarded first prize, each will receive 3,904 US dollars. 30 students are awarded second price, each will receive 2,602 US dollars. 23 students are awarded third prize, each will receive 1,301 US dollars. College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Office of International Colleges & Partnerships of UCD also provided scholarship to the UCD exchange students at ICB, aiming to encourage more UCD students to come to study at ICB. This year 6 UCD exchange students received the scholarship. UCD also set up a “Scholarship Athlete Award" in 2013 .This year 72 students won this award. Among them, 19 are ICB students, which accounts for 26% of the total number of prize winners. (ICB students accounts for less than 3% of UCD's total students number). In the ceremony, Professor Kilkenny offered her congratulations to the prize winners on behalf of UCD. She presented each prize winner a waistcoat with UCD logo and word “Academic Athletes”. Professor Kilkenny said if the prize winners can keep their GPA at 4.0, a "golden star" will be added on their waistcoats. Professor Xu Tingwu, Deputy Dean of ICB presided at the ceremony. Rose Chang, Assistant Dean of College of Liberal Arts and Science at UCD, Chris Puckett, Associate University Counsel at UCD, George Wang, Program Academic Director, Professor Feng Weizhe, Deputy Dean of ICB, Zhang Puguang, Deputy Party Secretary of ICB, Yang Zihua, Assistant Dean of ICB and ICB students in CAU-UCD program were at the ceremony. 
This year, 77 ICB students are awarded UCD scholarship totaling 212, 000 US dollars.This is the third year that UCD scholarship are awarded to ICB students in CAU-UCD Program.
