The First Council of HEU’s Confucius Institute is Held in Odessa
On July 8th, the first council of the Confucius Institute co-founded by HEU and Ukraine South Normal University was held in Odessa, Ukraine. Yang Desen, HEU’s vice president, along with four HEU delegates were invited to attend the meeting.
The president of Ukraine South Normal University Qi Baijing showed a warm welcome to the HEU delegation. He said that the Confucius Institute founded by HEU and Ukraine South Normal University together has provided a good opportunity for Ukrainian people to learn Chinese, and contributed to the goodwill between China and Ukraine.
The two deans of the Confucius Institute Ding Xin and Popova delivered a report entitled 2012-2013 Annual Work Report on the Confucius Institute of Ukraine South Normal University at the meeting. The report focused on the construction of infrastructure, the management of faculty members, enrolment, teaching and the organization of cultural activities.
During the council, HEU and Ukraine South Normal University also signed several papers, including The Statue of the Council of the Ukraine South Normal University Confucius Institute and The Memorandum of the Second Meeting of Ukraine South Normal University’s First Council.
In addition, on July 3rd to 5th, HEU delegates attended the 37th ACM-ICPC World Finals held in Saint Petersburg, Russia. During the contest, the executive director Mr. Poucher and HEU delegates exchanged ideas on the development, promotion and selection of students of ACM-ICPC. Moreover, HEU also invited him to attend the 2013 International University Presidents Forum on Information Technology Education hosted by HEU.
