HUST Listed as International Education Base by MOE

On July 8th, International Education Base Project for international students studying in China was first initiated by Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China (MOE). Huazhong University of Science and Technology stood out among others and became one of the top Chinese universities to be selected in this base project.

International Education Base Project is a key component for National Long-term Educational Reform and Development Plan (Year 2010 - 2020) and National Plan for Studying in China implemented by MOE. Universities listed in this Base Project are taking the lead in international student number, student structure, program administration and development. A total of 22 universities administrated directly under MOE and 16 provincial and local universities have been selected nationwide.

HUST has firmly stuck to the specific policies guided under MOE which are to enlarge international education scale, to optimize its structure, to standardize administration, and to ensure its quality. HUST, aiming at building a world-class university in China, has incorporated international education into its university overall development, and put efforts in advancing its high level of education, optimizing its international student structure, and upgrading new student enrollment. HUST has also promoted accordant management between Chinese students and international students and strengthened frequent exchange between them. Major progress and breakthroughs have constantly been achieved.

HUST will continue its efforts in participating major national programs for international students studying in China and taking the initiatives on training programs for teachers and administrators. In-depth researches on international education will also be carried out continuously.

HUST international student number has been increased by 20% per year, and a total of 2195 international students from 124 countries around the world studied in HUST in 2012, among which 870 were postgraduates and 960 were undergraduates. All of the above indicators are on top of Chinese universities.
