The 7th National Computer Games Championship Held at HEU

On August 14, the opening ceremony of the 7th National Computer Games Championship was held at the Lecture Hall of the HEU library. The championship was co-sponsored by the Technical Committee of Computer Games, the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and the Computer Science and Technology Teaching Committee of the Ministry of Education. A total of 168 teams from 21 universities gathered at HEU to participate in the championship.

The prominent figures attending the opening ceremony included WU Qidi, the former Deputy Minister of Education and the honorary president of this championship; JIANG Zongli, the Deputy Director of the Computer Science and Technology Teaching Committee of the Ministry of Education; HEU’s Vice President WEI Lin; XU Xinhe from the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and WANG Yajie, the Director of the Technical Committee of Computer Games,

Vice President WEI Lin delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He said that HEU’s continual emphasis on students’ creativity and innovation had played a significant role in cultivation of elite talent. He also expressed hope that the competition could further inspire students’ passion for innovation.

XU Xinhe, on behalf of the championship organizers, welcomed over 200 participants from across the nation and introduced the development and future of computer games.

The National Computer Games Championship aims to improve students’ computer skills and research capabilities as well as enhance awareness of innovation by means of encouraging students to be actively involved in extracurricular scientific activities. Combing theory and practice, the championship inspires students’ innovative potential and improves students’ professional skills. This competition was compromised of 13 categories such as Chinese chess and Go. Of the 168 teams, 17 were from HEU.
