Special Rail Service Given to Students and Migrant Workers

 Railway workers deliver tickets to students.

 
As Spring Festival approaches, millions of migrant workers and students are rushing home by railway. China’s local railway transport authorities have taken measures like collective ticket booking and delivering. Ministry of Railway predicts the peak time for students to return home is coming.
 
The first train specially for students started from Xiangtan Hunan Province at 17:50p.m. of Jan 8, 2009, which marked the beginning of peak time for students coming home. Guangzhou Railway Group that initiated the special train for students plans to launch 24 trains for students only. It is predicted 288 thousand students can enjoy the service, up by over 80 thousand people from last year. Tianjin railway station tends to prepare six trains only for students during Jan 13 and Jan 15. So far over 60 thousand students’ tickets have been sold.
 
Cities like Guangzhou, Shandong, Shanghai and Zhenzhou provide ticket-delivering service to migrant workers. 107,937 tickets delivered by Guangzhou Railway Group will reach migrant workers by Jan 10. 
 
In addition, Tianjin and Xinjiang enter the peak time for Spring Festival transport beforehand.
 
Good news from Chengdu, one of the major stations to carry passengers, says lines 10 and 11 are put into use, increasing capability by 20%.
