Welcome to Shenzhen University

     
      Shenzhen University attracts an increasing number of international students each year. SZU began its international student education in 1987, up to now it has trained more than 10,000 international students from over 60 countries and regions. At present, SZU has around 1,500 international students each year.
 
       The College of International Exchange of Shenzhen University takes the charge of international students’ admission, daily administration and service, Chinese language and culture education. It is also responsible for daily administration of international education joint programs of the whole university. International cultural studies and exchange is also one of the college’s major tasks.
 
Faculty and Staff
 
The teaching faculty and executive staff in the College of International Exchange of SZU consist of personnel with an optimal age-structure, high qualifications and professionalism, multi-academic backgrounds and innovative spirits. Among them, forty-eight professors teach the international students various courses, some of whom work as extra-curricular instructors for each class. Ten executive staff are in charge of international students’ admission, consultation, daily administration and service, extra-curricular activities and other clerical work. We take pride of their warmhearted hospitality and teamwork!
 
Programs Courses Extra-curricular Activities and HSK
 
According to their personal interests and academic qualifications, international students are free to choose Chinese Language programs (0.5—2 years), undergraduate programs (4 years), postgraduate programs (3 years), non-degree undergraduate program, non-degree postgraduate program, research program and Chinese Cultural studies.
 
        Small classes are devised to give language students more practice chances in class. Experienced professors of the college teach international students, helping them master Chinese language in the shortest time possible.
 
        Practical courses of different levels are taught such as Spoken Chinese,Chinese Reading Comprehension, Listening Practice, Dialogues, Practical Chinese Writing, Business Chinese, Selected Readings of Press Chinese, Chinese Culture and selective courses like Cantonese Dialect, Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, Chinese Songs and Folk Art.
 
        From 2010 on, The International Exchange College starts BA degree program, which has two optional specialties, ie, Chinese Language and Culture, Business Chinese.
 
        Besides classroom teaching the College of International Exchange organizes various extra-curricular activities for them every year,for instance, Chinese Singing and Dancing Contest, Sightseeing Trips,attending all kinds of Chinese festivals, local social activities, painting and photograph contests so that students can not only improve their Chinese language proficiency but also have broader exposure to the Chinese culture. With these activities we do not splash water of the Chinese language onto the students, instead, we are determined to plunge them into the deep ocean of the Chinese language and culture.
 
        In the college there is a state authorized HSK Center for all types of Chinese language proficiency tests at elementary and intermediate levels.

There are ten canteens and restaurants on the campus providing Chinese, Korean, western and Islamic foods; there is a university hospital,a post office, small shops, book booths and a securely guarded international students’ dormitory building that is elegantly and harmoniously embedded in the colorful woods and lawns by the Wenshan Lake. Those who do not like to live on campus may choose to rent apartments with reasonable charge in the nearby community. Outside the campus there are all kinds of Japanese, Indian, Vietnamese, Brazilian, Mexican and Thai Islam restaurants within ten minutes ride. The university library holds 4,268,000 copies of books (1,040,000 copies of e-books), more than 40,000 electronic journals and 189 CD-ROM and network databases. The university has more than 35,000 internet accesses, 99% of its classrooms are equipped with multi-media system connected with internet, and it has reached a high level of digital campus. The university has the best sports facilities in all the universities in China, such as two gymnasiums, two swimming pools, table tennis and bowling center, football fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, a golf driving range and a large standard stadium, which supply full functions. You will be amazed at all kinds of quality goods of both Chinese and international brands with extremely competitive prices when shopping. Traffic and transportation are highly developed in Shenzhen with its big international airport, seaports, railways and express ways linking the world, and subways, buses and taxis efficiently carrying people around the city. You will feel better in Shenzhen than at home!
 
        Every year large number of talented people from home and abroad come to work or study in Shenzhen, where Mandarin (Chinese Putonghua), instead of Cantonese dialect, is widely spoken. The average GDP per person, the total volume of foreign trade, the proportion of high-tech industry of Shenzhen have been standing on the first place among the big and medium-size cities in mainland China for 18 successive years. Numerous international companies have established subordinate companies, R&D centers and joint ventures in Shenzhen, for instance, Samsung, Sony, HP, Canon, MERSK, etc. Many former international students have found fairly-paid jobs in Shenzhen, Hong Kong and nearby cities after their study in Shenzhen University.
