Chinese Traditional Architecture “Style Lei” Attracting Foreign Student

Recently, School of Architecture Department inTianjin University opens its summer courses of Chinese traditional architectural landscape culture. And it attracts numerous Chinese students as well as 20 foreign students who are interested in traditional Chinese architecture.
 
“Style Lei” is a standard and systematic ancestral technology. In late Qing dynasty, there was a very famous archiecture family and they only bulit kinds of buildings for Emperor or top people. Their family name is Lei. The foreign students charmed by the interesting introduction of “Style Lei”. Tianjin Univesity has been surveying and mapping the historic building for a long time, and its professor Wang qiheng has started researching “Style Lei” since 1980s.
 
The executive director Nikula at National Higher Institute of Architecture in Paris said:” We changed our view of Chinese traditional architecture through these courses. Before, we always thought Chinese building simply made by craftsman without systematic design. Now, we know that China has owned an integrated and regular design, constrction system from blueprint to model.
 
These courses will last 12 days during which 8 teaching stuff leaded by Pro. Wang will give excellent lectures about Chinese traditional architectural space, building garden environment etc. Foreign students can get a deep and overall understanding of Chinese traditional culture and architecture theory by lecture, visiting and experiencing building design.
 
With the deep and wide communication, Tianjin University and National Higher Institute of Architecture will make more cooperation in teaching and scientific research protection of cultural heritage spot in historic city.
