Students of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies Won First Prize in National Debating Competition

June 22-On June 10th, the 16th "FLTRP AMAZON Cup" National Debating Competition South China Division ended in Guangzhou. Two competitors of GDUFS, Dengfa and Jindi£¬won the first prize under the guidance of Teacher Wangxin and succeeded in entering the finals in Beijing. Delegations from tthe South China Business College won second prize.

The competition lasted for three days at Guangzhou University. 46 universities from Hainan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Guangxi and Guangdong province participated in the competition. Dengfa and Jindi were among the six Best Debaters.

BP system of Debating Competition is short for British Parliamentary. It consisted of a series of rules designed after the model set of English Parliament proceedings and is in strict accordance with the world university debate format. Motions of debate cover aspects of law, culture, society and current affairs. Some hot topics such as civil and criminal issues demand more on knowledge and logic of the competitor. Also, it has higher requirement on oral English especially the pronunciation and intonation. We wish our GDUFS representatives good luck in the finals!
