"The Most Beautiful China” National College Students Photography and Micro-film Contest was organized by traditional media and new media together. Since its launch in July last year, millions of college students from 700 colleges and universities participated in the contest with more than 55,000 candidate photos and 2000 micro-films demonstrating the “most beautiful China” in the eyes of college students.
"Dilemma 18:13” is an experimental sci-fi film produced by Chen Xiaoqiang. It creatively deems Mobius strip as the space-time structure and tries to tell an exciting story in a confined space. The story is compact and exciting. Judges agreed that the story was touching in that the protagonist never was in despair in spite of constant setbacks and made all attempts to simulate, to understand the space he was in and to explore the way out. “This indomitable fighting spirit is beautiful.”
The awards ceremony was held at Shanghai Jiaotong University. As the representative of judges, Deputy Party Secretary Ren Shaobo made a speech entitled “Micro-film, Big World”. He acknowledged the meaning of micro-film as a new art form as well as a new form of cultural activities for college students.
Lu Yan, member of the Oscar awards judge committee and Shanghai Jiaotong University alumna, presented awards to winners at the ceremony. She said, “30 years ago, when I first met Ang Lee and saw his works, I knew he would become a great director. Today, I’ve seen so many wonderful works of college students, and I think the second Ang Lee will be just among you.”
On the ceremony, “The Most Beautiful China” Micro-film Talent Support Program was launched. It’s sponsored by about 20 companies and support young people to produce interesting works for their audience.
