NSFC Supports LZU with 136m Yuan in 2012
In 2012 (by Nov.), among the 718 items of research projects at Lanzhou University applied for support of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), there have been 186 items approved, up 3.91% in 2011, with a total amount of RMB 136.834 million yuan, up 24.62% in 2011, which shows that both the number of projects and amount of approved fund hit all-time highs.
The highlights of NSFC application work are as follows:
1."The Efficient Synthesis of Polycyclic Natural Products with Important Medical Value", a major research project financed by NSFC applied by Academician Tu Yongqiang’s team from the State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry, is approved for a fund of RMB 18 million yuan, which is the first time for LZU to be approved for support by NSFC, and marks a major historic breakthrough for LZU in the NSFC application work and further ascended basic research capacity at LZU.
2."The Research on the Main Problems of Universal Psychological Intervention Based on Biological Information Feedback", a major international (regional) joint research project financed by NSFC applied by Prof. Hu Bin from the School of Information Science & Engineering, is approved for a fund of RMB 2.7 million yuan, which is the first joint research project of the type approved for support by NSFC at LZU.
3. Prof. Tian Wenshou from the School of Atmospheric Sciences, won the "National Outstanding Youth Science Fund". At present, there have been 20 winners of the fund at LZU.
4. Three young teachers, namely Prof. Liu Xiang from the School of Physical Science and Technology, Prof. Wu Yi from the School of Life Sciences and associate prof. Zhang Jinlin from the School of Pastoral Agriculture Science and Technology, won the "Outstanding Youth Science Fund" established by the NSFC committee in 2012 for the first time in LZU's history.
5. The number of the research project supported by youth science fund at LZU increased sharply by 20.31% in 2011 with a fund of RMB 19.13 million yuan.
