13 Research Achievements of Zhejiang University Won National Science and Technology Awards

 
On January 18, 2012 National Science and Technology Awards Conference was held in Beijing. Five national science and technology awards were presented to winners. Zhejiang University faculty members receiving awards on behalf of their projects included Yang Huayong of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Yang Lirong of Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Gao Xiang of Department of Energy Engineering, Chen Yunmin of Department of Civil Engineering, Wang Jian’an of School of Medicine and Chu Jian of Department of Control Science and Engineering. In 2012, a total of 13 projects won awards, for 6 projects among which Zhejiang University was the first author affiliation. The number of awards achieved by Zhejiang University faculty ranked the second in domestic colleges and universities.
 
The project “The key technology and industrialization of independent design and development of shield tunneling equipment” headed by Professor Yang Huayong won the first prize award for National Scientific and Technological Progress. The research team for this project included researchers and engineers from Zhejiang University, Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co., Ltd., China Railway Tunnel Group, China Railway Tunneling Equipment Co., Ltd., and Hangzhou Boiler Group Co., Ltd. The researchers made breakthroughs in the key technology of independent design of shield tunneling to tackle instability, failure and misalignment. They developed three series of shield products with earth pressure, slurry and composite which were entirely “designed in China and made in China.”
 
The project “The key technology and industrialization of chemical-enzymatic preparation of chiral pyrethroids in organic solvents” headed by Professor Yang Lirong was awarded the second prize of National Technology Invention Award. The other 4 projects headed by Zhejiang University professors won the second prize award for National Scientific and Technological Progress, namely “The key technology and application of wet desulfurization and integration of nitrate and mercury” headed by Professor Gao Xiang, “The key technology and application of environmental soil mechanical mechanism and disaster prevention and control of urban solid waste landfill field” headed by Professor Chen Yunmin, “Mechanism and clinical application of myocardial tissue repair and functional reconstruction after myocardial infarction” headed by Professor Wang Jian’an, and “The key technology in integrated automation control and optimization system in major oil refining chemical engineering” headed by Professor Chu Jian.
