Chinese Food Culture Experience at Ernest Bevin College
As a part of Chinese cultural promotion, in order to allow students to experience traditional Chinese culture,Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine(CITCM) organised a Jiaozi (a traditional Chinese food) Workshop for students at Ernest Bevin College(EBC) on 9th July.
Ernest Bevin College is one of the CITCM’s 9 Confucius Classrooms. EBC has organised various Chinese cultural activities. Althoughit was the first time for EBC to have a jiaozi workshop, EBC students showed great interest and enthusiasm.

During the workshop, the teachers first introduced the significance of jiaozi in Chinese culture, its origin and the process of making jiaozi. After the explanation, the students started to make dough, roll out wrappers and make jiaozi under the teachers’ instructions. The students enjoyed the process and made jiaozi of various shapes and sizes. They could not wait to taste the fruits of their own labour. When they finally got to taste their own jiaozi, they were all excited. Students who were in the Chinese classes expressed their feelings in Chinese, saying “Delicious! Excellent!”

The Jiaozi Workshop not only enabled the students at EBC Confucius Classroom to experience Chinese food culture but also contributed to promoting Chinese culture abroad.
