A Vibrant Performance of the Dance Troop from America in Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

On the afternoon of Nov.9^th, American students from Ball State University (BSU) presented an original and passionate American Dance Extravaganza in the assembly hall on the south campus. Students from the Art Department also performed in the show which revealed the beauty and charms of Chinese arts.

Before the show, He Chuantian, GDUFS Vice President, together with the leaders of the Art Department, had a brief meeting with the leaders of the Song & Dance Troop. They expressed their gratitude to the troop for making light of their journey even though they had to travel from so far away. They also presented a gift to the troop.

Fourteen beautiful Hua Tan (vivacious young women) opened with a prelude to the performances by dancing to the vocal accompaniment of Peking opera. Their excellent show won big applause from their American friends. Alex, one of the dancers from BSU even said: "This is the most amazing dance I’ve ever seen."

Soon afterwards they sang songs in both Chinese and English. After the performances of the Chinese students, the troop from BSU did their show. Both their excellent dancing and a beautiful trio called “King of Anything?won big applause from the audiences.

There were also other performances, such as the saxophone, which was performed by the assistant of the troop while beautiful dancers in red dresses danced vibrantly around the stage.

Jonah, a member of the troop, said that although he was tired after the performance, he was very happy and excited. It was his first visit to China and he was so glad for the opportunity to enjoy such great traditional Chinese performances including the dancing, the singing, and the playing of musical instruments. Jessica, who was also a first timer in China, said excitedly that she loved the traditional Chinese dances and that the students of GDUFS were excellent and friendly.

Xiaolu, an audience member, highly praised the American performance. She also expressed her gratitude to GDUFS for giving the students the chance to know more about American culture.
