HUST won 2012 Tencent’s University New Media Application Pioneer

More than 600 people including national education masters, experts and scholars gathered together to review, witness and discuss educational development of 2012.
The ceremony also announced China’s top ten network education schools and the School of Distance and Continuing Education of HUST was included. Dean of the shool Prof. Zhang Guo’an said in his acceptance speech that the network education in 2013 should spare no effort in enhancing the professional service and HUST would continue to make contributions to national educational construction.
 
Meanwhile, the first National Forum for University New Media Development sponsored by Tencent was held. Experts from the field of new media and leaders from different universities discussed “the university development and talent training in the new media age”. Prof. Chen Xianhong, vice dean of School of Journalism and Information Communication of HUST stated that operation of App clients, Wechat and twitter was worth researching. As the only student representative who delivered a speech, Mei Qiang, graduate student from the Journalism School shared HUST’s practice and exploration in the construction of new media. He believed that HUST’s achievement todaywas attributed to HUST’s attaching importance to new media and its original and bold educational concept--allowing students to dominate the construction and development of new media.  
 
According to the new media development report issued at the forum, HUST official twitter topped the list of universities’ twitters.
 
"Echoes of China" Tencent’s Education Assessment started in 2007 and had been held for six times. The event had aroused strong concern in education and media fields, and had become an educational media brand with substantial influence and broad appeal.
