MALAYSIAN AMBASSADOR ISKANDAR SARUDIN SPEAKS ON MALAYSIA-CHINA RELATIONS

On the afternoon of March 6, Malaysian Ambassador Iskandar Sarudin visited Beijing Foreign Studies University and spoke on “Malaysia-China Relations: Diplomacy and the Role of Youth”.
President Han Zhen of the BFSU welcomed him and hoped the university would cooperate and exchange more with Malaysian colleges. Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang of ASEAN-China Center introduced Malaysian Ambassador to the audience.

Mr. Ambassador reviewed the history of Malaysia-China relationship and analyzed current status and future prospect. During his seven maritime expeditions six centuries ago, Zheng He and his fleet had passed the Strait of Malacca for six times, which started the friendship between the two countries. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1974, the regular communications between state leaders and peoples have greatly promoted the relations. The youth represents the future of a country and Ambassador Iskandar Sarudin said the young generation should play their part in diplomacy and contribute to Malaysia-China friendship.

Mr. Sarudin answered the questions of the audience after his speech and discussed the education exchange programs, the relationship between China and the ASEAN, and other issues.
The Malaysian diplomat delegation visited Malaysian Research Center before the speech and talked to the teachers and Malay majors.
