NUAA Vice President Visited UK Partner Universities

                                     

  From May 23 to May 28, a delegation of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics led by Vice President NIE Hong paid visit to NUAA’s UK partner institutions, including Cranfield University, University of Edinburgh, University of Bristol and City University London. The visit aimed to increase consensus and advance NUAA’s cooperative ties with UK institutions on the aspect of students exchange program and joint research collaboration. The delegation also delivered NUAA 60th Anniversary Celebration invitations to the collaborative universities.

  Prof. Sir John O’Reilly, Vice Chancellor of Cranfield university, extended his warm welcome to NUAA delegation and held talk with Prof. NIE Hong on deepening cooperation in joint cultivation programs for postgraduate students and exchange programs. Prof. Guenov, Head of Aerospace Engineering Deptment; Prof. Romano Pagliari, Senior lecturer of Air Transport Department, Prof. Dimitris Drikakis, Head of Fluid Mechanics and Computational Science Department introduced respectively their research expertise and general situations of their departments. Both sides discussed potential collaboration opportunities and expressed their willingness to make contributions to strengthen ties between the two institutions. The delegation also visited the manufacturing and wind tunnel laboratories.

  During the delegation’s stay in University of Edinburgh, Prof. NIE Hong, NUAA Vice President signed a “Specific Agreement for Student Exchange” with his UK counterpart Prof. Stephen Hillier, UoE Vice Principal International. The Agreement involves detailed exchange conditions such as language requirements, financial arrangements and credit recognition, etc. Prof. NIE Hong also discussed intensifying academic exchange and scientific research collaboration with Prof. A R Wallace, Dean International, College of Science and Engineering and visited the library and teaching facilities of UoE. Prof. NIE Hong also conducted a visit to NUAA-UoE dual degree program students and talked with them regarding their living and studying conditions in UK.

  Prof. NIE Hong discussed the joint Avionics study program and enhancement of dual master program with Prof. Dinos Arcoumanis, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Ken Grattan, Dean of the School of Engineering & Mathematical Sciences during his visit to City University London.

  Prof. NIE Hong discussed further promoting mechanism of cooperation with Nick Lieven, Pro Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Robert Partridge, Academic Registrar; Prof. Ian Bond, Head of Aerospace Engineering during his stay in University of Bristol.

  The official visit of NUAA delegation is a great success and greatly expands cooperation  between NUAA and its UK partner institutions.
