Undergraduate Program of Chinese Medicine

The Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SUTCM), a prestigious TCM university established in 1956, also known as the Eastern Harvard Chinese Medical School, is ready to welcome you to join the undergraduate program of Chinese medicine (acupuncture) taught in English this September.

Currently, more than 8,000 students are studying in the university. These include approximately 1,000 international students for academic degree and diploma. In addition, nearly 1,000 international students and doctors come for short-term training every year.

The University is well known for its undergraduate education. According to the A-level discipline listings by the Ministry of Education of P. R. China, the Chinese Medicine ranks No 2 and Chinese Materia Medica ranks No 1 in China.

Guided by the academic idea of ‘distinction rather than extensiveness and specialty rather than largeness’, the University aims to be a high-level, research-orientated, and international TCM university.

In order to further promote international education, the University will initiate the undergraduate program of Chinese medicine (acupuncture). The program will be organized by College for International Education, which is ISO certified with teaching management standards.

The newly-established program will put equal emphasis on essential theories and clinical practice of Chinese and Western medicine, thus equipping students with profound medical knowledge and clinical skills.

Students who complete the study will get the bachelor degree and diploma from the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Afterwards, students can take the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in their home countries.
