Eight Courses Honored as Provincial English-medium Excellent Courses for International Students

On May 16, 2013, Hubei Provincial Department of Education released the Notification about Affirmation of English-medium Excellent Courses for International Students. Totally eight courses from HUST have obtained the honor of “Provincial English-medium Excellent Courses for International Students”.

These eight courses are: Human Resource Management, Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Fundamentals of Information Theory, Basic Chemistry, Engineering Graphics, Public-Policy Analysis, Biochemistry and Digital Signal Processing and Application. Moreover, the first four have even been recommended by Provincial Department to attend the selection of “National English-medium Excellent Courses for International Students” held by Ministry of Education.

This is the first time that Ministry of Education launches a nationwide selection of the English-medium courses for international students. It aims at improving the education quality for international students studying in China and building a global brand in international students education.

HUST always attaches great importance to the construction of English-medium courses, attempting to bring the disciplinary advantages into full play and press forward the future development of international students’ education. These crowned courses cover Engineering, Medicine, Science and Management, topping No.1 in the total number of courses in Hubei Province.

In the past few years, the enrollment of international students in HUST has been expanding year by year. In the year 2012, 2195 international students from 124 countries were studying in HUST. Among them, 70% is studying in the English-medium program, and this indicator ranks among the top in China.

Currently, HUST has opened 4 English-medium undergraduate majors, and more than 160 English-medium master’s and doctoral majors. The total number ranks top No.1 among all Chinese universities.
