4th MBBS Student’s Seminar 2013

The seminar was held on 25th May in the Lecture Hall on the first floor of the new library. The seminar was honored by the presence of Prof. Chen Yongchang from Physiology Department, Prof. Xia Sheng from Immunology Department, Prof. Yin Xiaojuan from Emergency Medicine Department , teacher Xu Xiao from Pharmacology Department and Prof. Charles Lee from OEC. Many international students along with Chinese students were also present in audience.
 
Seminar started at 2.00pm with the welcoming of all the honorable guests and audience by Dr. Dipak Kumar Singh. There were altogether ten presentations in the seminar, each of which was prepared by a group of five students. The group leader of each group was the speaker and the rest of the group joined in for discussion session. Every group was given 15 minutes for presentation followed by 5 minutes for discussion but due to very active participation by the audience and interesting discussion, the session for every group was prolonged to 7 to 10 minutes.
 
Professors asked questions to all groups and also put some light on important aspects of the presentations. International students and also Chinese students had lots of queries and information to share. Program ended at 6.30pm. Prof. Chen Yongchang praised all of the students for giving such wonderful presentations in seminar. He emphasized that teaching METHODS to students about “How to acquire knowledge” is better than teaching knowledge directly to students and Seminars are one of the methods. He also said that we shall have this kind of activity at least twice a year. OEC’s Vice Dean Prof. Charles Lee also congratulated and praised students for their efforts in seminar. All students were grateful to OEC for organizing the seminar. Some students from the audience also suggested that rather than organizing once a year these kinds of activities should be organized more often. Overall the seminar was even more successful than the previous one and was highly appreciated by everyone.
