Sign Language Dance

Sign language, a voice for the mute, but communication with the universe as it is danced through and performed.

The first day as we watched the video it seemed to us difficult to memorize, personalize with original ideas, transit, and to perform, close to impossible some said but impossible is a penetrable barrier we realized. The team with its burning desire to master a language alien to them, persevered with passion in practice, and indeed, for some time, it seemed impossible, but with an outstanding instructor like Junmei laoshi and friends for encouragement, with an element of patience we got to competition date proud and positive.

On May 29 we had a very happy time. The venue adorned by a great audience and decorations, we sat as a team, all white t shirts as we craved for identity and unity. Watching other teams perform was not only pleasure to our sight and arousal to our feelings as we knew the message communicated, furthermore it was heart throbbing as we placed ourselves on the stage in thoughts.

A few minutes from our show, Wang laoshi and Junmei laoshi cheered as we walked in front of a daring crowd. We stood there as they gawked at us, understating gaze, hearts pounding and it was so quiet one could even hear the heartbeats. Trembling within ourselves with fear, the drum was played and a cold shudder of fright ran through my spine, and the rest of the team I believe. The crowd cheered, we calmed and performed better than expected, and as we finished the sweet aroma of ambition and success interlocked scented and enlivened the atmosphere.

The award for performing was attained and we became more than just a team, ecstatic in victory for we had conquered our fear as a being, we became a family.
