The Band from University of Washington Performed at SMU

On the night of March 23, the music exchanges between band from University of Washington and the SMU Orchestra was held at the auditorium. As conductors of the concert, Mr Timothy Salzman from University of Washington and Mrs Ma Hua from SMU gave performances and about 120 students from both parties took part in this performance. The concert attracted over one thousand audience, including Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU.
 

In the first part of the concert, SMU Orchestra played 1492: Conquest?Of?Paradise, Jasmine Symphony and Disney Fantasia. And in the second part of the concert, the band from University of Washington performed such symphonies as Grand Canyon Suite: Crickets & Distant Thunder, Beata Lux, The?Monster?in?the?Maze and Beethoven's Seventh Symphony. At last, the two bands ensembled Dance of the Youth and Ode to the Motherland. 

After the concert, the two sides had in-depth exchange, and teachers from University of Washington spoke highly of SMU’s warm reception as well as the orchestra’s performance.
