International Students visited the Yangtze Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum

In the evening of April 21st, 6 internationals from Poland, Ukraine and Russia embarked a journey to eastern Europe in Room C101 of D9 Building. With a mixed media channels as ppt, sound track and videos, they presented the geography, population, history, culture and art of their mother countries to the audience in a comprehensive way, which has won rounds of warm applause off the stage.

 “What’s your first impression over Russia?” asked by speaker Yulia, a Russian girl on the stage. Answers like “Vodka”, ” Putin” and “Coldness” exploded from the audience and made Julia laugh. She continued and tried to restore the real Russia in her own way:” Russians do like Vodka and a bottle usually could not satisfy us; In general, the majority of Russians like Putin since our country’s economy has made progress under his leadership throughout the past years, and in addition, Russia is not as poor as profiled by the media; Winter in Russia is very cold indeed, but not every place is that cold...” The audience acquired a closer understanding of the real Russian society after Julia’s speech.

               

                                   A Student Was Asking Questions

 “Actually dumplings don’t exist in China only and you could try Polish dumplings, mainly as Christian food, which could not only be fried with butter and onion, but also dipped in yogurt. ” When Marcin and Marta showed the pictures of Polish dumplings that looked extremely similar to Chinese ones, the audience all felt astonished.Three Ukraine girls Iryna, Anastasiia and Olha also demonstrated the beauty of their country:” Our national flag simply consists of yellow and blue stripes with the former representing for ripe wheat fields while the latter for blue sky, and together it means freedom and sovereignty.” Except the flag, the audience also showed great interest to the Ukraine flower crowns, soldiers and so on.


In addition to the presentation, there are also parts as Q&A, language learning and questionnaire on this lecture. Savira Mega from Indonesia listened to the speakers very carefully:”I don’t know much about Poland and Ukraine before, but now I see they are beautiful countries that deserve a nice visit. I hope I could tour around in Eastern Europe, admiring the scenery while having delicious food.”

Global Tour in HUST has been a brand program from SICA that aims at providing a chance for the internationals on campus to introduce their mother land, from which the teachers and students on campus could learn about the real world in anther prospective. As a program to expand horizons, Global Tour has presented countries like Republic of Korea, Finland, Norway, Germany and so on and the program has won great popularity among teachers and students on campus and has served as an important platform for the Chinese and international students to communicate and share with each other.
