A Trip to Daqiao Park of “Universally Hand-in-hand” Association, Jiangsu University

Universally Hand-in-hand Association (the former Peer Volunteer Program) is a newly-established association, which is under the direction of Overseas Education College of Jiangsu University. Members are local and foreign volunteer students.
May 12 saw the association organize its first activity——a trip to Diaoqiao Park. This very first activity aimed to promote communications between foreign volunteers and local volunteers, trying to lay a good foundation for the future work.
The trip team consisted of 13 foreign volunteer students and 21 Chinese volunteer students. We first stopped at the Mao Yisheng Museum to learn the lifetime contribution of Mao Yisheng, who was an extremely important specialist in bridge design and construction field. Then we had a good walk inside the Daqiao Park, enjoying the sunshine, the beauty of the park. At lunch time, while eating our meal we sat in a round on the lawn and introduced ourselves. We also talked about each other’s expectations about the future of this association. After a short nap time, we played a game together; it was really a lot of fun.
In the early afternoon, we took the bus again to the Happy Farm and everyone was full of gratification in picking strawberries. Sweat on everyone’s face, we waited for our own harvest; we got the feeling of working hand-in-hand. During free play time, some students chose to ride a horse, shoot targets, or drive a small car……
We, local volunteers and foreign volunteers, had a happy trip together, and we expected that this trip would help better develop our newly-established association——“Universally Hand-in-hand”.
