OEC Students’ Leant Traditional Chinese Folk Art
On April 24, OEC students took part in an activity held by Zhenjiang Folk culture and Art Museum and OEC of Jiangsu University. Over 50 OEC students went into Xi-Jin-Du. They watched the ancient street and the intangible cultural heritages and learnt traditional Chinese folk art with the folk art masters.
Quite a few mass media units also reported this activity, including:
Some OEC students expressed their feelings through their pen:
Ever since I came to China, I can think of no other place where I would rather learn, grow, and shape the rest of my life except here, at this beautiful university located at Zhenjiang.
On April 24th, 2013, an OEC staff had organized a picnic for all the new students this year to go to some important places at Zhenjiang in order to know more about this beautiful historical place! We went to the Zhenjiang Museum and the historical city that were built along the Yangtze River long time ago.
The bus stopped at the place which once was a village along Yangtze River. I was very impressed with what I saw. The building were built so neatly and so organized which can bring you the feeling as if the city there never dies. There were many Chinese students volunteer who went along with us and explain us about the history and cultural diversity of this place. We learned that this place is called “xijindu” and that once there was a great river there. That place was once a beautiful village beside a great Yangtze River.
We continued our journey by going to the museum nearby. We learned that Zhenjiang is very famous for 2 things which are Vinegar and the story of White Snake. The museum itself was extraordinary, especially since it was made for the public to see, enjoy and learn about the artifacts history. What kept it exciting was probably the fact that it was organized in a manner that was casual rather than just grouping them by categories. When I entered the museum, I was truly surprised. I wasn’t really expecting to see this neatness and way of organization in which the artifacts were represented to the public.

The best feeling of this trip was that we were all surrounded by a people who appreciated each other for who we are! We had lots of fun and nice experiences that day.
