Time flies, and then we turn to the page of a brand new year.

At this festive moment, we extend our new- year greetings to our staff and students, retired comrades, alumni at home and abroad, as well as all leaders and friends who concern about the construction and development of Wuhan University!

Looking back on the year 2015, every achievement has framed to be an impressive memory of WHU’s history, which constitutes the storyline of our university’s legend.

2015 is a year of honor. The world witnessed WHU’s steadyrise in QS and US News, the world's most recognized university rankings.Even in fierce competition, WHU’s 12 subjects enter world's top 1% of ESI.

2015 is a year for scholars. WHU fostered one new member of Chinese Academy Sciences and an addition of 54 talents listed in national programs like “Yangtze River Scholars”, “Thousand-Talent Program” and “Distinguished Young Scholars”; a group of young scholars stood out on the international academic stages and achieved a historical breakthrough, who published a number of high-level papers as first author on NSC, a top academic journal worldwide; advanced scientific research platforms continued to increase, with International Law Institute selected as the first national high-end think tank, one of the six specialized think tanks which rely on  universities; 6 achievements won the "Three Major National Awards of Science and Technology" and 34 won the “Outstanding Achievement Award of National College Humanities and Social Sciences”.

2015 is a year for students. The number of gold medals won by WHUer ranked first nationwide in “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and we were awarded with 4 first prizes in "Challenge Cup", National University Student Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Work Contest, both of which are the best performances ever. WHU won the championship of International Schools Rowing Regatta. WHU Alumni did well in all walks of life. Lei Jun introduced his company’s products to President Xi Jinping ; Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Masimov speaking Chinese stunned the audience throughout the World Internet Conference; three alumni in one dorm of WHU were all selected as academician. In 2015, WHU received a total amount of over 100 million in alumni donation in 2015, which continued to rank top three of University Rankings of Donations from Alumni.

2015 is a year for our university. WHU was awarded with the "National Civilized Unit" for the first time. Supports from the central,  provincial and municipal governments was strengthened, and in the meantime, the government of Hubei Province continued to allocate special funds to sustain our university to strive for world-class universities; with the support from provincial and municipal governments, WHU started the comprehensive renovation along South Road of East Lake as well as environmental improvement program of Water Plant in East Lake, to create a higher quality of Luojia landscape.

In the past five years, we advanced step by step, and all goals set five years ago had been achieved, part of the core indexes even exceeded. Looking forward to 2016, the first year of the “Thirteenth Five-year Plan”, WHU still has a long way to go. Our dream is to render the most influential and beautiful university worldwide and to deliver world-class undergraduate education in today’s China, with which we can cultivate talents leading development of society and civilization!
