The 7th International Class Officially Opened at SMU

On March 7th, the 7th International Class officially opened at SMU. Attendees included Mr. Yang Wanfeng, Vice President of SMU, Heads from International Education College and International Office, teachers from Merchant Marine College, College of Transport &Communications and College of Ocean Science and Engineering, as well as hundreds of international students.

Mr. Yang Wanfeng gave a welcoming address first. In his speech, Mr. Yang showed that short time program such as SMU’s International Program and SMU-KME Marine Engineering  Training Program have developed into brand programs which attracted a growing number of international students year by year. The international students could not only acquire professional knowledge and skills but also experience the charm of Chinese culture. He also encouraged students to study hard and strengthen mutual communication so as to become academic-exchange and cultural-exchange envoys between SMU and other universities.

After Mr. Yang, Chen Wentao from Merchant Marine College as a representative teacher and Andrey Manin from Russia as an international student gave speeches respectively.

Most international students at the opening ceremony were mainly from the seventh oversea exchange program and SMU-KME Marine Engineering Training Program. All of them came from countries such as Russia, Denmark and America. In order to help them quickly familiarize SMU campus, International Education College organized pre-school education activities last Sunday.
