Mr. Graham Baldwin, Vice Chancellor of Southampton Solent University Visited SMU

On March 15th, Mr. Graham Baldwin, Vice Chancellor of Southampton Solent University with his delegation visited SMU. Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU and Prof. Shi Xin, Vice President of SMU, together with Heads of International Office and International Education College, received all the visitors.

Prof. Huang Youfang first warmly welcomed the delegation and briefed the guests on SMU running conditions. And then he highlighted that SMU strived to develop feature disciplines in shipping, logistics and marine materials, and it also attached much importance to students’ comprehensive qualities cultivation. Since Southampton Solent University is excellent in maritime education and also emphasizes on humanistic teaching, he looked forward that both sides could strengthen communication in order to promote cooperation and exchanges in the field of maritime education, arts and humanities, etc.       

Mr. Graham Baldwin introduced the general situation of Southampton Solent University and said that SMU’s campus construction left a deep impression on him. He hoped that the new agreement signed by the two parties could be an opportunity to further close collaboration.  

Prof. Shi Xin expressed that SMU will actively implement the cooperation with Southampton Solent University and launch substantive joint projects as soon as possible.

On the foundation and prospect for cooperation, the two sides had an extensive and deep discussion. Prof. Huang Youfang and Prof. Graham Baldwin, on behalf of universities, signed the cooperation agreement which involves the exchanges between students and teachers, teaching and scientific research and etc.
