On April 22th, Gordon Houlden, Director of the China Research Institute at the University of Alberta, paid a visit to GDUFS. He delivered a lecture on "Canada-China Relations: Opportunities in Energy and Education " at the Canadian Studies Center on the north campus.
GDUFS Vice-CPC Secretary Chen Jianping and other leaders conducted a friendly meeting with the guests. During the meeting, Chen gave a brief introduction about the development of GDUFS and shared his hopes for further cooperation in the future.

Chen Jianping and Gordon Houlden
Houlden praised the green trees, birds, flowers, fresh air and elegant environment of our campus and compared it to a beautiful forest. Because he has been living in China for several years, he has developed a deep understanding of China. From the standpoint of Canada-China cooperations, he hopes that GDUFS, particularly the Canadian Studies Center, will initiate a more open communication with the China Research Institute where he is working.

Two sides exchanging gifts
At the meeting, Houlden reviewed the history of the friendly relationship as well as the strong business relationship in terms of economic and trade cooperation in a warm and sincere fashion. Meanwhile, delegates from our University talked to him about strengthening bilateral cooperations on energy and education.
