A Delegation of Tanzania Visited DMU
On 22th April, a delegation headed by Deputy-Director of Safety and Environment, Ministry of Transportation Tanzania visited DMU. Y. M. Songoro, Principal of Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI), J. J. Mwemezi, Deputy Principal of DMI, and D. E. Mandanda, officer of Administrative/Personnel Office also joined this visit.

Prof. Liu Zhengjiang, Vice-President of DMU received the guests in meeting room of the Administration Building. Prof. Liu extended warm welcome to the guests. He said, our two institutions have maintained close relationship since the signing of MoU. DMU have received officers from Tanzania Government many times and DMU will continuously support the construction and development of DMI. In addition, Prof. Liu hoped that the renewed MoU would promote the cooperation in the fields of degree education, teachers training and cooperative research between the two institutions.
Then, on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation Tanzania, Mr. Wapalila expressed their thanks for the invitation from DMU. He said that the cooperation between the two institutions symbolized the friendship between the people of the two countries. He also said that Ministry of Transport Tanzania attaches great importance to the cooperation and hopes that the cooperation between the universities will achieve to a higher level.
Mr. Songoro, on behalf of DMI, expressed their thanks for the warm reception. He said that DMI hoped to carry out more substantial cooperation with DMU and to learn successful experience from DMU in education. He also said that DMI will apply for more support and funding from Tanzania Government to promote the construction of DMU branch campus in DMI.
Prof. Xu Bin, Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office, further introduced the progress of the program. He said that DMU would continue to apply full scholarships from Chinese Government to support teachers from DMI to study in DMU and keep pushing forward the joint Bachelor Degree program between DMU and DMI.
After discussion, a renewal signing ceremony was held. Both sides agree to continue the cooperation in the fields of major construction, faculty and students exchange, faculty capacity building and student management.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited Ship-handling Simulator, DMU Exhibition Hall and Survival Training Center.
